Empowering Gen Z in the Workforce: Pulse App Revolutionizing Pre- and Onboarding Experiences for a New Generation
Pulse is an app designed to assist Gen Z individuals as they enter the workforce, aiming to enhance their pre- and onboarding experiences.
Overview 👓
Starting fresh can be tough, especially when beginning a new job where you must demonstrate your skills while adapting to a new organization. Many new employees struggle initially, so I aim to encourage companies to improve this common experience we've all faced.
This reason comes from the need to demonstrate what you know, what you are good at, while at the same time you adapt to a new organization with different ideas, timelines, and people.

Companies frequently face challenges retaining talent because of unclear onboarding processes, which can leave Gen Z newcomers feeling disregarded, anxious, and unprepared. The lack of clear onboarding plans and ineffective company communication often contributes to this experience among newly hired employees.

The Solution 💡
Pulse presents a visual guide that maps out tasks and goals, offering new hires a well-defined trajectory. Moreover, it incorporates a virtual assistant, affectionately dubbed "your buddy," to assist and mentor them during their onboarding experience.

Design an intelligent experience for a successful pre & onboarding employee experience.
Research
A smooth preboarding and onboarding process can make a big difference for Gen Z as they kick off their careers. Born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s, this generation brings unique strengths and expectations.
Engaging preboarding, like early exposure to company culture through social media and interactive content, sparks excitement and helps them feel connected. Once they’re onboard, structured training, clear expectations, and quick skill development set them up for success.
Using innovative tech and interactive learning, Gen Z can adapt fast, make meaningful contributions, and grab growth opportunities within the company.

Insights
With the information gathered from our user research and journey mapping, we clustered some ideas and came up with some how might we questions for our ideation process. We decided to start with the top 3 as to broaden our ideation process to help us come up with a sufficient idea.

Based on our interview findings, we identified a consistent pattern and established an archetype to guide our design process.

Once we gained a deep understanding of our users' experiences, we mapped their journey through three key stages: onboarding preparation, their first day at work, and the initial week.
